COMBITRAN is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) system that delivers estradiol & norethindrone,
through the skin. CombiPatch?(estradiol/norethindrone acetate) is an alcohol-free, adhesive-based matrix
transdermal drug delivery system. It releases both 17 -estradiol (an estrogen) and norethindrone acetate
(a progestin) continuously upon application to the skin.
This transdermal drug delivery technology allows the medication to be absorbed into the skin in a steady
and predictable manner.
One of the most prevalent risks associated with long term, unopposed estrogen replacement therapy in women is endometrial
hyperplasia which, if untreated, can develop into endometrial carcinoma.
COMBITRAN transdermal system can simultaneously deliver estradiol and norethindrone, a potent
synthetic estational agent , which offers the potential of a convenient and reliable means of combining
estrogern and progestin therapy with the physiologic and metabolimc advantages of transdermal
administrationover oral administration.

Indication and Usage
Treatment of post-menopausal symptoms (hot flushes, insomnia, nervous symptoms or depression which might occur
during menopause, vulval and vaginal atrophy) and bone loss, caused by natural process or
an operation.
Dosage & Administration
Apply one patch twice per week on the back or lower abdomen. |

Combined Hormone Therapy
This replaces both estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen and progesterone work in hundreds of areas in
your body, including the brain, bones, breasts, blood vessels, reproductive organs, urinary organs, skin,
mucous membranes and the endocrine system. While estrogen helps lighten many menopausal
discomforts, it also causes growth of the lining of the uterus. This thickening of the uterine lining is a risk
factor for cancer.
Taking a form of progesterone helps prevent uterine cancer by protecting the uterine wall from the
tissue build-up that can occur when estrogen is taken alone.
Hormone replacement therapy also helps keep bones strong and your heart healthy.
A combination of estrogen and progesterone replacement is the most widely used therapy for women
who have their uterus.
