Indication and Usage
Treatment of post-menopausal symptoms (hot flushes, insomnia, nervous symptoms or depression which might
occur during menopause, vulval and vaginal atrophy) and bone loss, caused by natural process or an operation.
Menopausal symptoms
During menopause, the production of estrogen decreases well below normal level.
The resulting set of physiological and psychological changes are defined as postmenopausal symptoms.
In many women this decrease in estrogen production causes uncomfort, most noticeably hot flushes and
sleep disturbances. Some women may also develop other changes
such as impaired bladder controls and vaginal dryness that cause discomfort during and after intercourse. Estrogen can be given to
reduce or eliminate these symptoms and bone loss associated with menopause.
