What is Surgisorb ?
Samyang's Surgisorb is a sterile, coated, braided, synthetic absorbable and ready to use suture composed of Polyglycolic Acid.
Surgisorb meets all the requirements established by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP)
and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Sutures.

What are advantages of Surgisorb ?
Compliance with the requirements of USP and EP.
High tensile strength.
Excellent handling and knotting characteristics.
   1. Smooth tissue passage.
   2. Easy knotting and tie down.
   3. Excellent knot security.
Reliable absorbability.
   1. About 65% of the original tensile strength at 2 weeks.
   2. About 35% of the original tensile strength at 3 weeks.
   3. Predictable absorption (loss of mass) in 60 to 90 days.

Instruction's for use

Description
SURGISORB is a synthetic absorbable suture based on Polyglycolic acid. SURGISORB sutures, coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate, have been found to be inert, nonantigenic and nonpyrogenic.
The sutures are available in dyed(violet) and undyed form.
SURGISORB complies with the requirements of USP and EP.

Indications
SURGISORB sutures are indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation including ophthalmic
surgery. SURGISORB is not indicated for cardiovascular and neurological tissue approximation.

Actions
SURGISORB sutures elicits a minimal tissue reaction and ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Absorption of bioabsorbable sutures occurs by hydrolysis ; beginning with loss of tensile strength followed by loss of mass.
Absorption test in rats show that SURGISORB retains approximately 65% of the original tensile strength
at two weeks post implantation. Absorption of SURGISORB suture is essentially complete between 60 to
90 days.

Contraindications
SURGISORB sutures are contraindicated where extended approximation of tissue under stress is required.

Warnings
Under certain circumstances, notably orthopedic procedures, immobilization by external support may be
employed at the discretion of the surgeon. Do not resterilize.

Precautions
Acceptable surgical practice should be followed with respect to drainage and closure of infected wounds.
SURGISORB sutures require the standard surgical technique of flat and square ties with additional throws
if indicated by surgical circumstances and the experiences of the surgeon. Skin sutures which remain in
place longer 7 days may cause localized irritation and should be snipped off or removed.

Adverse Reaction
Reported adverse reactions include inflammatory tissue reaction, localized irritation and wound separation.

Dosage and Administration
Use as required.

How Supplied
Coated SURGISORB sutures are available sterile, as braided dyed(violet) and undyed strands in sizes 8-0
through 2 (metric sizes 0.4 through 5) in a variety of lengths with or without needles.

SURGISORB sutures are available in one or three dozen boxes.
